Target Pace Run or Time Trial (1-2 miles)!

News

A number of you are toeing the line this weekend. If you are, I’m guessing you have a pace in mind. If so, I’ve got something for you!

For Thursday’s session of speedwork, we’ve got a ‘target pace run’ lined up. It’s a pretty straightforward exercise. After a quality warmup, segue to the track and run 2 miles at your target pace for race day.

If you nail your target pace and it feels easy/peasy, you’re likely good to go for race day! If your two miles at target pace feels challenging, you might want to adjust your plan of attack for race day.

FYI, it’s always a good idea to have a Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C on race day. Plan A is your ideal/stretch goal. Plan B is a slightly less ambitious (but perhaps more realistic?) goal, and Plan C which may simply be to finish the race!

If you’re NOT toeing the line this weekend, I’m recommending a 1 or 2 mile time trial. For the time trial, you’ll similarly do a quality warmup before segueing to the track. Once you’re on the track, you’ll run a mile or 2 mile as fast as you can!

Email Me your time and I can put together a projected pace chart that will tell you how fast (theoretically) you can run for a 5K, 10K, half, or full.
