From Coach Toby….
Fantastic effort tackling those Sunset District hills and stairs last week! You all crushed it!
This week’s wildcard run is going to be a breeze… well, mostly. We’re keeping it local and soaking in the springtime beauty of Golden Gate Park. Part road, part trail, the 4 mile route includes traversing the picturesque Phil Arnold Trail, a more recent addition to the park.
Named after the late Phil Arnold, a passionate advocate for parks and open spaces, and an avid runner, the trail winds through a grove of mature coast live oak trees in the northeast corner of Golden Gate Park. In Phil’s memory, we’re making the most of our urban trails and the opportunities they provide for outdoor fitness and recreation.
Although nowhere near as hill-heavy as last week, you can expect some rolling terrain and mild climbs. Now, I know what you’re thinking – “Can Coach Toby actually plan a less hilly run?” Well team, you’re in luck! Although not entirely flat (hey, we’re in San Francisco, after all), it’s significantly less hilly than last week. Think of it as a gentle rolling adventure.

Please join your teammates after the run at Fireside Bar for our weekly social. Our get-togethers are always so much fun – just like attempting to navigate my “non-hilly” routes! Fret not, in addition to providing the Strava route (above), we’ll make sure to mark the way with plenty of chalk to guide you along.
