Every runner I know has a ‘number’ rattling around in their head. Maybe this number is 2:00 for the half marathon. Maybe it’s a Boston qualifying time. Maybe it’s 5:00 for the mile!
The only way to find out whether or not you’re capable of achieving whatever number is rattling around in your head is to TRY! So, for this edition of speedwork, that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
If you have a specific ‘pace’ goal for whatever race you have on the calendar, come out on Thursday and try to nail 2 miles at your ‘target pace’ on the ROAD (as most races take place on the road).
Here’s the lowdown for what I have lined up……
- Rendezvous at the WEST entrance to Kezar & stow any personal items in my car.
- Easy jog from Kezar to JFK at the Flower Observatory (.5 miles approx)
- Dynamic Range of motion drills!
- Commence the target pace run!
- At the 1 mile mark (look for chalk marking & me acting as a course marshal), turn around and head back the way you came.
- After everyone’s done, we’ll segue into our ankle, calf, and knee drills with Coach Elena!
- 1/2 mile cooldown run back to my car.
- Segue into happy hour!

*NOTE-Every 1/2 mile on the course will be marked with chalk.
