From Coach Toby….
Welcome to our fall season first wildcard! This Tuesday, join us for a run to Alamo Square’s iconic Painted Ladies Victorian houses. We have two out-and-back options: a 4-mile and a 3-mile route along the Panhandle.
The 3 miler is about as flat of a run as you’ll get in SF, while the 4 miler has a short (less than a quarter mile) climb. Both distances include an optional 3/4M fartlek session, a fun way to mix up your pace and practice running faster. Fartlek: Quicker bursts, slower recovery, repeat.
I created the wildcard workout to push your limits and and as way to explore San Francisco. These 3-5 mile runs are accessible to runners of all abilities and are designed to build strength, endurance, and mental grit.
They complement our Thursday night track sessions and each week, I craft a unique route that takes advantage of the city’s diverse landscape—think stairs, trails, parks, hills, and often lesser-known spots. Join your teammates every Tuesday to challenge yourself and experience the city in a whole new way. Show up regularly, and I promise you’ll become a stronger runner!
Housekeeping:
Do your best to be on time. We start promptly at 6:35pm with a brief hello and workout overview before our warm-up and run. After the run, we’ll stretch with Coach Elena and then this week head to Fireside Bar for our post-run social (outside food is welcome). We rotate our post-run spots each week to local favorites.
Most nights, I drive and can store non-valuables in my car. Please do not bring valuables, as car break-ins unfortunately do happen in the park.
6:30 Meet-Up: 7th Ave and MLK Jr Drive (Golden Gate Park)
Warm-Up: Easy 3-5 min group jog and dynamic stretches
