Tuesday 3/26 Wildcard Workout Week 6 – Park to Peaks: Twin Peaks Challenge (4.5M or 4.85M)

News

From Coach Toby…..

There are many ways to get high in San Francisco (pun intended), but as a runner, there’s nothing better than conquering Twin Peaks with friends.

This week, we’re tackling the hills again with our first Twin Peaks summit of spring. Lace up and get ready for a challenging run, stunning views, and a great sense of accomplishment when you are done.

You’ll have the option to climb one or both peaks!

6:30 Meet-Up: 7th Ave and MLK Jr Drive (Golden Gate Park)

Warm-Up: 5-7 min group jog followed by range of motions exercises at Kezar Stadium

Route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3207412420606101344

Tips

Running Twin Peaks definitely boosts endurance, builds strength, and toughens up our mental game. To really make the most of these benefits, let’s keep in mind the importance of prioritizing effort over pace during this run.

  • Paying attention to your breathing, heart rate, and overall physical sensations will help you gauge when to dial things back and when it’s okay to push the accelerator.
  • Remember, it’s not only acceptable but often essential to adjust our effort when tackling hills. Don’t hesitate to incorporate walk-run intervals to sustain yourself or to help manage fatigue during challenging portions of the run. And a reminder… fatigue is temporary. It’s often a sign that you’re pushing your limits and growing stronger. Embrace it.
  • Finally, try to drop some kudos to teammates along the way. Encouragement and support can make ALL the difference during a tough run.
