6:30 Meet-Up: 7th Ave and MLK Jr Drive (Golden Gate Park)
Warm-Up: 5 min group jog and range of motions exercises
Workout & Route Options:
- 4.5-Mile Route: Tailored for those new to urban hill running, this is a challenging route but manageable distance. All pavement, no trail. https://www.strava.com/routes/3143946997650437338
- 5-Mile Route with Single-Track Trails: For those seeking a bit more adventure and extra challenge, this route briefly ventures onto some less known city trails. https://www.strava.com/routes/3143935357395737986
- Both routes will descend the same way back to the start. Cya at the top!
Tip:
I always encourage walking on hills if you need a break. It is something I often use in trail races to conserve energy. Consider run/walk intervals, like a one minute brisk walk followed by a one minute running burst.
This workout is about personal progress and growth, not pressure. Each step is a victory! Hill running can be challenging, but with consistent practice and patience, I promise, you will improve over time. As a result, you’ll emerge a stronger runner. If you have any questions about hill running, urban or trail, please reach out.
