I don’t know about you, but I LOVE running near water. Maybe this is because I became a runner during a period of my life when I had the great fortune to live right by a lake. I can’t tell you how many times I did the ‘lake loop’ which was a glorious 4.5 miles. No matter which direction I went, I was right there next to the water.
Turns out, just being ‘near’ water can be good for your mental health. See, I knew what I was doing at the angsty old age of 15 😉 In all seriousness, being near the water is good stuff and never fails to inspire in my experience.
So…we’re taking a ‘coastal’ adventure run this Saturday that is beautiful, but there’s a bit of a ‘beast’ in this run as well. There’s some trail/technical terrain, there are some stairs, there’s 900 feet of ascent/descent, and there’s even a stair ladder thrown in there for good measure!
Join us for this ‘coastal’ adventure run. Here’s a link to the course map….
Adventure COASTAL Run (5ish miles)
Here’s a description of the course for you…
- Launch from Walt Disney Family Museum & head towards Lincoln. Turn LEFT on Lincoln and segue onto the paved path on the right of Lincoln.
- Veer RIGHT & DOWNHILL on the paved path (.4 miles).
- Follow the paved path (Presidio Promenade) to Battery Trail East (1.3 miles)
- Continue on Battery Trail East until the Golden Gate Bridge & run underneath the bridge (1.5 miles)
- Connect with Coastal Trail and follow until you reach the top of a set of stairs (and the first EPIC view of the day) (2 miles)
- Descend the set of stairs and (carefully) follow Batteries to Bluffs Trail until you reach the bottom of a set of stairs (and your first big climb of the day) (2.4 miles)
- Ascend the stairs and make your way UP to Coastal Trail, turn RIGHT on Coastal Trail, and take another right shortly thereafter onto the Sand Ladder. (2.6 miles)
- Turn RIGHT down the sand ladder until you reach the beach! Take an EPIC selfie, turn around, and come back the way you came for 5.5ish miles!
