Run Club Wildcard Workout-Buena Vista Park Repeats (4.5-5.5 miles)

News

From Coach Toby….

Welcome to the summer season! San Francisco is a beautiful city with diverse terrain and stunning views, making it an excellent backdrop for our weekly wildcard training runs.

As one of your Run Club running coaches, I’m excited to share some incredible routes that will not only challenge, but also allow you to explore and discover some of SF’s less known and hidden treasures.

Week #1 – Lace up and embrace the hills. It’s time to elevate our running to new heights.

Workout Type: Long Hill Repeats

Benefits: Strength and endurance building

Warm Up/Cool Down: 1.25 mile warm up run to and from GG Park to Buena Vista Park.

Workout:

Start location – Frederick St and Buena Vista Ave West, at the top of the steps.

You will run 2 or 3 clockwise “laps” around the perimeter of Buena Vista Park. Each loop is approximately 1 mile long with 200 feet elevation gain. I suggest running at a comfortable pace, doing your best to run the entirety of each loop.

If you need to take a break, ideally you take one at the end of each loop, before you start the next. This is not a sprint workout, but one to build stamina, so don’t worry about speed. Slow and steady will get you there before “fast and out of gas.”
