Kite and Tank Hill (3-ish mile loop)-DESCRIPTION

This route starts at Dolores Park and winds through the Castro and Eureka Valley. From the park you run 19th St towards underrated Kite Hill with beautiful views of Downtown and the Bay. You will descend the hill and cross Market St to the charming neighborhood underneath Twin Peaks and hit Tank Hill with an almost 360-degree view of San Francisco, looking out on Golden gate Bridge and Marin. From there you descend, with the best part – running down Corbett St, subject of several chases in movies and tv series, before you run back to Dolores Park through Eureka valley.

COURSE DIRECTIONS

  • Start: Church St / 19 St (Footbridge at Dolores Park)
  • Straight on 19 St West
  • Left up the stairs to Kite Hill (past Seward St)
  • Run to summit
  • Descend on west side down the stairs
  • At bottom left on Yukon St
  • Right on Short St up to Market St
  • Right on Market St to traffic light
  • Cross Market St to Clayton St
  • Run up Clayton St on left side
  • Left on stairs
  • At top continue straight on Iron Alley
  • Right on Graystone Terrace
  • At end CAREFULLY cross Twin Peaks Blv and take stairs to Tank Hill
  • Loop Tank Hill
  • Return end turn left on Twin Peaks Blv
  • Right on Clayton St at intersection
  • Left on Corbett Ave
  • At end on 17th St turn right on Douglass St
  • Left on 18th St
  • Right on Church

For 4 miles run Church St north to Market St and back to start. For 6 miles, do ‘2’ iterations of the loop (clockwise/counter-clockwise)
