Wildcard Run (Hail The Trail)-03/22/18

News

HAIL THE TRAIL: We transition from last week’s stair workout to an easy 5 mile-ish road/trail run in beautiful Golden Gate Park. Coach Toby will provide a quick trail running primer prior to the run.

FYI, this trail is neither hilly nor technical. It’s an easy one for beginners, and fun for anyone who wants a change of scenery. EVERYONE gets the physical benefits of tackling the trail! Here’s a link to the course map-

After a warm-up lap around Kezar Stadium and a series of range of motions exercises, we’ll follow this simple route for the run.

Directions: Please review the route map via the posted link.

-This is a simple out and back, east to west/west to east course. Exiting the stadium’s west entrance, we’ll cross Kezar Drive at the light and head into Golden Gate Park on MLK Jr Drive.

-Stay on the paved pedestrian path to the right of MLK. MLK will intersect Bowling Green Drive just shortly after we enter the park. Cross over Bowling Green (on right) and turn left to stay on MLK.

-Continue on the right side paved path on MLK all the way to 19th Ave/Crossover Drive. This is approx. 1.3 miles into the run and is a multi-lane traffic light controlled intersection. Be alert!

-Cross through the intersection and continue on MLK. Immediately thereafter, MLK will intersect with Transverse Dr (right side).

-Make a left here at the pedestrian crosswalk to transition over to the paved path on the left side of MLK. After crossing MLK turn right and immediately look for dirt trail entrance on your left.

-We’ll try to put some chalk down here for you. Time for some dirt! You’ll run along this trail until the turnaround, which is 1 mile from the trail’s start.

-This trail runs parallel and in-between Lincoln Way (on the left) and MLK (on the right). While running on it, you’ll cross over 25th Avenue at Lincoln Way.

-Continue on trail after 25th Avenue and until you reach Sunset Blvd, your turn-around. This is approx. 2.3 miles into the run. Return the way you came back to Kezar Stadium. Enjoy!
